Bordeaux in Spring

BordeauxFrance·May 30, 2024·city-sights

We are back in Bordeaux for the first time in Spring. Everyone has a bounce in their step and the cafes are full. We love that this is our gateway city in France and that we can stay a few days on arrival and on departure and jut anytime we get the urge!

Below is the vibrant Place de la Comédie in Bordeaux, anchored by the magnificent Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux just to the left with its neoclassical façade and statues. The square is a hub of daily life, where locals and visitors cross paths on foot and by bicycle, surrounded by elegant 18th-century buildings filled with shops and cafés. At the center stands a striking modern artwork—a monumental sculpted head by Jaume Plensa, part of his “Sanna” series. The serene, closed-eye expression contrasts with the busy square, inviting a moment of reflection amid the movement. Nearby, the ornate clock column adds a touch of historic charm, making the space a compelling blend of Bordeaux’s classical heritage and contemporary artistic expression.

We encountered this elegant woman posing for maybe a magazine cover. She was certainly the center of attention.

Some more pictures of our few days here.
